Right to Information (RTI)

The Right to Information Act (Law No. 1/2014) grants every citizen the right to access information held by public authorities in order to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance.

MWSC is committed to complying with the Right to Information Act and to facilitating public access to information in a timely and transparent manner.

Making an Information Request

Requests for information under the Right to Information Act must be submitted to the Information Officer of MWSC.

Requests may be submitted by email or via the Mahoali Portal, administered by the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Under normal circumstances, requested information will be provided within 21 days of receiving the request. Where the request involves a large volume of information or requires extensive research, this period may be extended by an additional 14 days, in accordance with the Right to Information Act.

If the requested information cannot be disclosed, the applicant will be informed in writing with reasons for refusal.

Right to Appeal

If an applicant is not satisfied with a response of the Information Officer or the time taken to respond to an Information Request, the applicant may appeal the decision to MWSC’s Review Committee within 30 days of the decision. The Review Committee will issue a decision within 30 days of receiving the appeal.
