MWSC signs agreement to initiate Phase III of Male’ Storm Water Upgrading Project

MWSC has today signed an Agreement with the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure for initiation of Phase III of the Male’ Storm Water Project.

The Contract was signed by the Deputy Managing Director of MWSC Mr. Abdulla Saheel Jaleel and the Deputy Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Mr. Abdulla Muththalib, on behalf of the Housing Ministry.

Phase III of the Male’ Storm Water Upgrading Project includes construction of 51 water collection chambers and 4 new pumping station to minimize flooding in Male’.

Storm water System Phase III comprises of 4 catchment areas.

1. Buruzu Magu with its connected roads (From Hilaalee Magu to Kan’baa Aisa Rani Hingun).

2. South end of Shaheed Ali Hingun with connecting roads.

3. Majeedhee Magu from Maafannu Cemetery up to Star Cinema area with connecting roads.

4. Kan’baa Aisha Rani Hingun from Hiriyaa School to IGMH, along with Thaajuddheen School road.

Completion of Male’ storm water upgrading project will give an effective solution to ease severe flooding during rainy season.
