MWSC has completed the new water production center “RO Annex 1”, a part of the decentralization plan of the Greater Male’ Region Water Security Program, an important initiative to ensure safe water provision to the people.

A Special Function honoured by the Minister of Environment and Energy Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim, was held to inaugurate the new water production center.

The new production centre, located in Haveeree Hingun, can produce 2000 cubic meter water per day and will house a storage tank with a capacity of 3000 cubic meter.

Giving a brief summary of MWSC Water Production Center “RO Annex 1”, Managing Director Mr. Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed highlighted that the Greater Male’ Region Water Security Plan encompasses decentralization of operations, increasing production and storage capacities and linking Male and Hulhumale water network via a pipeline across the Bridge.

In 2017, HE President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom inaugurated RO Annex, a production center in Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu, that has the capacity to produce 5,000 CBM of water.

The Water Security Plan is being implemented under the guidance and counsel of HEP Abdulla Yameen.
