MWSC is working towards attaining the certificate on Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series 18001:2007. The Company is the first of its kind in the Country which has initiated to achieve the OHSAS Certification with the aim of providing all of its employees, customers and contractors a safe and healthy work environment.
The OHSAS 18001:2007 Management System was completed and established during November 2010.The Occupational Health & Safety Policy has been developed and publicized in all the operational units of the Company, including the Head office, Villingili, Hulhumale’, Maafushi, Thilafushi and Kulhudhufushi. The policy spells out the commitment to prevention of injury and ill health and continual improvement in Occupational Health & Safety management and performance. The policy is also applicable to the legal requirement of Employment Act2/2008. Further, the Company has identified and assessed occupational health and safety risks for all the jobs currently established by the Company, and conducted extensive OHS awareness training to all of its employees and contractors.
The main objective of the Company is to achieve zero lost time accidents and to manage an effective OHS Management System that compiles with OHSAS 18001:2007 and Employment Act 2/2008.
