MWSC has entered into a contract with K. Maafushi Council to operate and maintain the sewerage system of
K. Maafushi Island, at a ceremony held today.
The Agreement was signed by the Managing Director of MWSC Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Didi and the President of K. Maafushi Council Mr. Abdulla Mufeed.
The scope of the Agreement includes operating and maintaining the sewerage system to help provide the convenience of the system for the island community. Under this contract, MWSC, in collaboration with the Council and Government Authorities, will aim to further develop the existing system by expanding the sewer network. As per the Agreement, for operation and maintenance purposes, the customers will be charged an operational fee on a monthly basis.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Didi assured that MWSC will help the people of the island to reap the benefits of the current sewer system, by efficiently monitoring and maintaining the system.
Mr. Mufeed, Maafushi Council President, said that it was an honour that an esteemed company such as MWSC had taken over the sustainable maintenance of the sewerage system of the island. He also said that the takeover by MWSC would help fulfill the desire of the island’s people to maintain the sewer system of the island more practically.
The signing ceremony held at Fen Building, was attended by senior officials from the National Council and K. Maafushi Council, as well as executive managers of MWSC.
