MWSC last night inaugurated Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and e-Services.

The services were launched by the Chief Guest of the function, Male’ City Council Mayor Mr. Adam Manik, and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of MWSC, Ms Neeza Imad.

Automatic Metre Reading or AMR is a technology implemented by the company for automatically reading meters, that enables meters to automatically transmit data to a central device. The AMR Project’s first phase is now completed in Hulhumale’.

e-Services are a set of new electronic services introduced by the company for customer convenience and ease, in terms of bill payment, delivery and customer service.

Speaking at the function held last night to celebrate the inauguration of the new services, Chief Guest Mr. Adam Manik, expressed his appreciation for the competent work done by the company in providing services to the public and stated that the company was headed in the right direction. Noting the company’s continuous efforts to provide safe water to the public, Mr. Adam Manik said that the Male’ City Council would offer full support in further enhancing the company’s services.

In her welcome remarks, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of MWSC, Ms Neeza Imad highlighted that the company’s main goal is to continuously work for the well being of its customers by providing efficient services. Ms Neeza went on to note that the day marked a milestone for the company with the introduction of services that work in the interest of the customers. Further, she expressed her hope that the new services will be of benefit for all receiving customers and that the services would be accepted with enthusiasm and willingness.

During his remarks, the Managing Director of MWSC, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Didi, noted that, while the AMR services are now implemented only in Hulhumale’, the second phase of the project is targeted for Male’.

At last night’s function, awards of recognition was given to the partners and those that rendered their help and assistance to the company during the implementation of the services.

  • Award of Recognition to Maldives Post Limited to recognize the company’s partnership with them in facilitating third party payments for customers via MWSC’s gateway. The third-party payment or Post-Pay facility would allow customers to make payments through Post Office, without having to visit MWSC premises.
  • Award of Recognition to Housing Development Corporation for the assistance rendered during the implementation of AMR services in Hulhumale’
  • Award of Recognition to Bank of Maldives Public Limited for their assistance in implementing e-Pay services.

The newly launched AMR services will lead to savings in time and costs, as meters can be read wirelessly through this technology, and meter readers would no longer need to walk door to door to read meters. Through the newly introduced, fast and reliable e-Services, customers can view bills online (e-Bill), pay online (e-Pay) and get customer services online (e-Portal).

The inauguration was held in conjunction with the company’s most celebrated day, World Water Day, which falls on 22 March of every year.
